A typical Cornish cove, with rocky outcrops, rock pools and lots of surfers! |

The rock in the foreground is covered in mussels. When I said I wanted to holiday near Muscle Beach, this isn't what I meant Lord! (But honestly, apart from sleep deprivation, it was lovely and we will go back : D ) |
Whilst on holiday I dragged the family to the Lost Gardens of Heligan - the gardens belonging to a large manor house that became drastically overgrown and were re-discovered and lovingly rebuilt over the past 30 years or so. We all had a wonderful time, with a rope swing, a jungle bridge, old-fashioned games on the lawn and den building in the woods, as well as following a woodland trail with clues and stamps to find. But it also indulged my love of God's beauty reflected in the natural world, so apologies for the following display of botany, to those who do not share my enjoyment : ) :

The green lady on the woodland walk. |

A view across the meadow, after the woodland and jungle walks, before the lawn games and rope swing. |

Sunshine and joy in a flower bed |

This bark looked unreal, almost like a 'wood effect' tree! |

He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul (Psalm 23). The day did indeed bring forth a soul restoring joy. |

Sunset over a Cornish farm on the way back from Polzeath one day - the photo does not do the sunset colours justice! |
Honestly, in spite of lack of sleep, it was a glorious week, full of beauty and fun. The children enjoyed sea scooters, the beach, rock pooling, body zorbing (wearing big plastic 'balls' called zorbs and then trying to play football, doing roly-polys, or sumo fights!), swimming, pool fun, horse riding and quad biking. I also arranged for my husband to have a full body massage as a surprise treat, as his muscles had been so aching from work before we went. We also played games and watched DVDs in the accomodation and enjoyed eating out (cheaply!) a couple of times - a real treat. Even the weather was on our side. Although chilly at times, it never rained when we wanted to go out and do an activity. Some days it rained before we left, was dry whilst we were out, then rained as we got back in the car to return to the accomodation! We will definitely go back and I even spent some time yesterday looking at prices for next year : )
I must go now. It's been chucking it down with rain all day and three of the family have been out in it doing various things. They will no doubt be looking forward to a hot meal a little later and I have to start sorting the large amounts of holiday and pre-holiday washing left to do! And I've got to walk the dog - better dig out the waterproofs!
As always I pray you will be blessed, and we will all know God more fully as we continue our (sometimes difficult) journeys along the roads of our lives. Hopefully, it won't be a month before next post : )
